US nutrition startup Berry Street merges with India’s Healthify as GLP-1 trends upwards

U.S. nutrition startup Berry Street said on Monday it has merged with Khosla Ventures-backed Indian startup Healthify to bank on the popular trend of people turning to GLP-1 drugs to lose weight.

The companies didn’t disclose the financial details of the deal. A report from JP Morgan published this year suggested that over 30 million people in the U.S. will be on GLP-1 by 2030.

The companies said Berry Street founder Noah Kotlove and Healthify founder Tushar Vashisht will act as co-CEOs of the new entity. In the U.S., the company will operate under the Berry Street banner, and in other markets like India, it will operate under the Healthify brand.

Healthify, which has raised over $150 million in funding, per Crunchbase, offers both AI-powered and human fitness and nutritional coaching via an app. Last year, the company expanded its operations in the U.S., and also started offering GLP-1-aided programs in India. The startup claims it has so far served more than 45 million customers.

“Healthify’s mission has been to put a dietitian in every human’s pocket. We have spent a decade proving that AI can drive life-changing outcomes at scale. Berry Street gives us the clinical backbone and the coverage infrastructure to deliver that promise to the U.S. market at a scale no one has achieved before,” Healthify’s CEO Vashisht said in a press release.

Berry Street has a network of over 2,000 clinics and offers insurance-covered GLP-1 care. The company last year raised $50 million in a fundraising round from Northzone, Sofina, and FJ Labs. This startup also provides AI-powered nutrition coaching and meal tracking, and claims it has served over 200,000 people in collaboration with Amazon, Walmart, and other platforms.

“By pairing AI with a nationwide network of expert clinicians, Healthify and Berry Street are building the platform that will redefine metabolic care, giving everyone access to daily nutrition guidance and expert dietitian advice,” Khosla Ventures’ founder Vinod Khosla said in a statement.
