5 ways to use Google Search for home decor inspiration and projects

People turn to Google Search every day for discovery and inspiration, including when it comes to home decor: Searches for “home decor inspo” are up 300% in the past month, and both “bathroom inspo” and “living room inspo” are breakout searches in the same timeframe. Bold pops of color are in, too — this year’s trending paint searches include teal and magenta.

Getting inspired is the fun part. Making your vision reality is where people can get stuck. Here are five ways you can use Google Search tools to take action on your home decor vision board.

    1. Visualize furniture in your space.

When you’re eyeing a new couch or other large piece of furniture, it can be hard to know if the piece will actually fit your room both physically and aesthetically. AI Mode in Search can help you visualize it so you feel more confident about what will work in your space. Simply upload a photo of your room and ask something like, “Based on my living room, what kind of couch would you recommend? The wall is 84 inches wide.” You can then see inspiration for different types of couches that would fit in that spot and follow up with a prompt like, “Can you show me what an emerald green velvet sofa could look like?” to see a mockup right in your space.
